Notebook entry
10 reports given, combined brief, no weather.
Journal injury
We had the combined staff meeting in the morning. That
went OK but Salim did not brief the weather. I am not sure why.
We gave Yoonis his Navy Achievement Medal after the meeting.
It was a pretty nice ceremony. I read the citation the Colonel presented
the award and the LtCol took the formation. Yoonis was obviously a little
nervous, but he was also obviously very proud to get the award. All
of the other Afghans were very covetous of the award. He was so happy to
get it that he asked us to present it to him again on Saturday. He
deserves it. He offered to take the lead with his platoon when the
pussy’s from Poland wouldn’t lead in their own AO. He also repelled the
attack on the end of the convoy.
We thought that the regimental staff bounced, so we bounced
early.
The rest of the day I spent a good portion creating the command
chronology. I spend an inordinate amount of time writing about what we do and
little time actually doing it it seems.
This came up in the meeting last night. They were reviewing
the training plan and I only had one hour of formal instruction with the S2 per
day. I’m like “I challenge anyone to get them to sit still or show up
consistently for more than hour.” Especially when you only have one guy,
you can’t get them to stop what he is doing and do more than a one hour class
per day.
